Local IT Support & Computer Repairs in Potters Bar

EN6, and no London charges

Potters Bar is in Hertfordshire, and EN6 also takes in Cuffley, Northaw and Brookmans Park. Like Borehamwood, it sits outside Greater London, which means outside the ULEZ boundary — there is no road charge attached to a visit here, and none could be added later.

It is inside the free call-out ring, so the visit costs nothing on top of the work and the £15 booking deposit comes off the final bill. Parking away from the station is generally unrestricted, which makes appointments here simpler to schedule than anything inside the North Circular.

Town centre, and the Green Belt edge

Two quite different jobs come out of EN6. In the town itself the housing is a mix of interwar and post-war semis with the usual pattern: one router, placed where the line comes in, covering a house that has since gained a conservatory or a converted garage. Ordinary coverage work, and quick to fix.

Out towards Northaw, Cuffley and the Green Belt edge the constraint changes. On properties set back from the road the limit is often the line itself rather than anything inside the house, and no amount of new hardware moves it. When that is the case we say so rather than selling you a mesh system that will not help — the honest answer is sometimes that the connection is the ceiling, and the options are a different technology, not a different router.

Knowing which of the two you have takes a speed test at the master socket, which is the first thing we do rather than the last.
